The Boston Bar – Downtown Basement Expansion, Edinburgh

Vertice Projects was proud to be part of the expansion of one of Edinburgh’s favourite Irish-American pubs, The Boston Bar, with the creation of its brand-new basement venue, Downtown.

This new space doubles the bar’s capacity and introduces a bold atmosphere inspired by the warmth of Donegal’s pubs and the vibrant energy of Boston and New York.

Our Work

• Custom Wooden & Glass Screens – Designed and installed bespoke partition screens to subtly separate walkways and seating areas, enhancing flow while maintaining an open and welcoming feel.
• Bespoke Wooden Features – Crafted unique timber detailing that complemented the venue’s dark wood interiors and exposed stonework.
• Bar Build – Constructed the new bar as a striking centrepiece, blending functionality with authentic character to anchor the room.

The Result

The finished space is a characterful and atmospheric venue where thoughtful design details meet social functionality. With its warm wood, crafted partitions, and statement bar, Downtown delivers a space that feels both intimate and vibrant — a true extension of The Boston Bar’s soul.
